About Sharon Jones
Growing up on the Texas coast has been my inspiration for many of my photographs, as water is a shared quality through many of them, from Galveston Bay to the Venetian canals.
My first experience in photography was with a disposable camera my grandmother gave me, and after having the film developed, I was hooked for life. I am self-taught but through the years I have taken online photography courses and multiple workshops learning different and new techniques. My camera choices have evolved and I now shoot with a digital camera, and often with my iPhone 7 Plus.
Words sometimes fail me, but as I've grown more comfortable with my abilities behind the viewfinder, I find that I am able to express myself through my photographs and communicate the beauty that exists all around me. While human subjects offer unique occasions to capture a special memory, I find that my inspiration is enhanced when I experience an accidental moment that only exists for a moment in time in nature.
As cameras and their capabilities change, I enjoy experimenting with editing and Mobil Art and anticipate new technological advances in photography.
My inspiration is enriched daily from my supportive husband, who has always been my biggest champion and continually fosters my fascination with the latest film processes and methods of capturing the pristine images I see with my camera. He has emboldened me to step outside my comfort zone and share my talents with those that share my fascination with photography.
I am a member of the Galveston Art League, Professional Photographers of America and the Texas Photographic Society. You may find my work exhibited at the Galveston Art League Gallery in Galveston and Texas City, Texas, and Turquois Mushroom Gallery in Hondo, Texas.
